THE Region 1 Triples Champion of Champions event was held in Naracoorte recently with Port MacDonnell taking on Tinitinara.
The Bay team of Adam Wilson, Chris Richards and John Broadbent took on Tintinara’s Kevin Munro, Mike Northcott and Brenton Jones in the final of competition.
In cool conditions, play started at 10am and after an even six ends, the Bay held a narrow 5-4 lead.
However, it was the next nine ends where Port MacDonnell began to show its class as it went on a 15-shot scoring run to hold a 19-4 lead with three ends to play.
In the end, the Bay ran out comfortable 20-8 winners to take the title.
Port MacDonnell has been in strong form in the Region Champion of Champions events as Heather Richards took out the women’s Singles event, and the men’s Fours was won by Tim Wrighton, Wayne Dowdell, Keith Dowdell and Des Horigan.
