Championship contested at Blue Lake

THE prestigious state-run Shylie Rymill Foursomes along with the foursomes championship was played last week at the Blue Lake Golf Club with 12 groups vying for the gross and nett prizes on offer.

Ronda Edwards and Karen Panagopoulos were this year’s gross winners with a score of 101.

The pair will now represent the Blue Lake Golf Club and join champion teams from several other South East District clubs at the Blue Lake Golf course on June 27th for the Champion of Champions event.

Geraldine Scott and Sue Agars were runners-up with a gross score of 105.

In the nett event, Bev Pascoe and Dianne Perryman claimed the win with a nett score of nett 80.

They narrowly defeated Ronda Edwards and Karen Panagopoulos, who had a combined nett score of 81.

Edwards and Panagopoulos were the winners of the combined nearest to the pin for A grade and the B Grade winners were Jenny Johnson and Rose Case.

Lee-Anne Medhurst was the winner in the pro-shot.

Tomorrow will see the start of five rounds of the Grant and Dianne Perryman short course trophy in stroke format.

SATURDAY

In perfect autumn weather, 13 women took to the fairways and Cherryl Hill was top of the podium with a score of 99/22/77.

Her round included pars on the fourth, fifth and 12th holes for splits of 49/50.

Pascoe and Josie Ashby both scored 78 and Ashby claimed second spot on a count-back.

Ashby finished with splits of 53 and 47 and recorded pars on the 14th and 15th holes.

Pascoe’s round included splits of 54 and 56 and picked up a par on the 12th hole.
