ROBE 45 d HATHERLEIGH 34

ROBE stepped up on its home courts to defeat Hatherleigh by 11 goals.

The Roosters started well and had the first three goals of the game.

Demi Carter shot with accuracy and did not miss a goal for the first quarter.

Hatherleigh’s Tegan Telfer and Robe’s Annie Regnier were a great match up through the mid court, with great drive and direction down the court.

Robe won the first quarter 13-10.

The second term had no changes made by either side and both teams stepped up their defensive pressure.

The Eagles’ inaccuracy let them down and the Robe defence of Georgia Perkins and Emma Wheal made the most of any opportunity to grab the rebound.

Robe won the quarter by four goals and carried a handy lead into half time.

Hatherleigh swung the changes at the main break with Erin Watson coming on at centre, Tegan Telfer going into goal attack, Demi Vanderhorst into goal shooter and Maddie Pulmer taking to the bench.

Once again the defensive pressure down the court was good from both sides.

Hatherleigh generated more scoring shots but was unable to convert under Robe’s pressure.

The Roosters won the quarter by two goals and at the final change they were up by nine.

More changes from the Eagles did little to quell the steady Robe line-up and despite accurate shooting at both ends of the court, the hosts prevailed by 11.

Regnier and Halle Carter were best for the Roosters, with Elly Redden and Rosie Nettle performing best for Hatherleigh.
