IN a tight and enthralling contest, Tantanoola claimed its first win of the 2023 Mid South East netball season, with a close four-goal victory over Mount Burr.

The game started goal-for-goal, with all players working hard to gain possession.

Mount Burr goal keeper Olivia Dean took a couple of intercepts early, with goal attack Lauren Wheeler finishing off well.

Late in the quarter, Tantanoola goal attack Keryl Ousey came into the game, shooting with accuracy and using her height to advantage, with accurate passing from the centre-court players.

Jami Walker created space and gave extra drive into attack, while Ousey continued to shoot well despite the pressure from Dean and Megan Thiele.

Ebony Clark came into the game at goal shooter for the Mozzies, with Ella Easterby and Laura Schultz passing with patience.

Mount Burr made a few passing errors late in the quarter which allowed Tantanoola to make the most of their opportunities and score.

After the break the game continued in the same vein, with goalies scoring from presented opportunities.

Westerman was replaced by Caitlyn Pane and Tantanoola moved Shelby Ryan into wing attack and Casey Walker into wing defence.

Thiele took the first intercept to help Mount Burr score and gain the slight advantage.

Jamie Walker continued to work hard outside the circle and the Tigers made the most of some loose Mozzies’ passing to keep in touch on the score board.

The contest continued as a close affair, and in the end the Tigers held on in a nail-biter.

Best players for the victors were Bromley and Ousey, while for Mount Burr, Dean, Easterby were given the nod.
