THE Mid South East netball reigning premiers, Glencoe, travelled to the seaside to take on a new look Port MacDonnell outfit.

The game started out at a fast pace and Chantelle Cocks dominated the shooting for Glencoe, scoring all of their 14 goals for the quarter.

Demon Kate Faint and Murphy Donna Jaeschke had a tight tussle through the centre, with the visitors on top and up by four goals at the first break.

The second quarter a tight, see-sawing affair.

The Demons switched Alana Berkefeld back to goal keeper to try to curb the influence of Cocks, moving Alysha Coon out to goal defence.

Coon provided good drive down the court and while Berkefeld got her hands to many balls, Cocks still had another solid quarter shooting 10 goals.

Glencoe won the quarter, but by just one goal for a five-goal lead at half time.

The third quarter was again tight and a few errors crept into both teams.

Experienced Demon Michelle Moore enjoyed an entertaining contest with Glencoe’s Chloe Pfitzner on the wing, with neither giving an inch.

Alice Tentye provided strong drive at wing attack for the Murphies, with the speedy Liza Mutch hot on her tail.

Glencoe was able to stretch its lead to six goals at the final break.

The Demons switched Faint and Mutch for the final quarter, along with Megan Hein and Kori Collins.

This seemed to have a positive effect, but Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen kept working hard in defence for the Murphies, making Hein and Collins earn every goal.

Port MacDonnell stepped up and won the final quarter by one goal, to make the reigning premiers earn their five-goal win.

Best players for the victors were Jaeschke and Cocks, with Berkefeld and Coon best for the Demons.
