THERE was a clear winner in the Tuesday midweek par competition with Ben Reichelt taking the win with a superb +8 at the Blue Lake Golf Club.

Reichelt made full use of his 36 handicap as most of his worst holes, which were double-bogeys, were squared.

However, despite making use of his handicap, it was still a strong performance as heopened with pars on the first and third holes, which are two of the harder holes on the course.

Reichelt was made to pay for errors on the two par three holes on the front nine as he wiped them both and turned with a score of +2.

It was the back nine where he truly excelled as he scored +6 and recorded another two pars to kick-start his golfing career in style.

Jim Ferrazzola was four points back and sat on top of the leaderboard for the of the day with his score of +4, which would often be enough to seal victory.

The runner-up for the day started strongly and turned square after nine.

He found heated up on the back nine and reeled off six pars to finish on +4.

It was the opposite for John Robertson, who did all his good work on the front nine, his only wipe coming courtesy of the bunker on the third hole.

A couple of early wipes to start the back nine caused a few wobbles but he knuckled down to bring it home with a +1 total.

There were eight players who finished square with the card and nearly all of them matched the same amount of plusses and scrubs on each nine.

Adam Stephenson impressed with five birdies through his round for splits of -1 and +1, while Anthony Riddoch squared each nine and Bob White impressed with a 36 off the stick on the inward nine.
