Dunn wins highgun after shoot-off

THE Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competition on Saturday and even though there were slight wind gusts, the shooters still obtained some perfect scores.

The opening event was the Nutrien AG Solutions 25-target double barrel championship.

This competition was enthusiastically shot as the shooters aimed to hone their accuracy skills in preparation for the upcoming Australian National DTL titles being held in Wagga Wagga next week.

After a shoot-off, Warren Lindner just edged out Andrew Hoare to win AA Grade with a score of 97/97.

Steven Chambers scored a perfect 25/25 to win A Grade, while Tom Jenkins was runner-up with a score of 28/29.

Denis Blok defeated Trevor Pevitt in a shoot-off to claim the victory in B Grade, while Robert Maracato won C Grade with a score of 24/25.

The South East Vets 25-target point-score championship event was shot in style and Max Medhurst claimed victory in AA Grade with a score of 74/75.

Jamie Dunn claimed second place after an extensive shoot-off in AA Grade.

Jenkins also scored 74/75 to take home the A Grade victory, with Allan Jones runner-up.

Dale Robertson nailed 72/75 to secure the B Grade win, while Ben Kentish claimed a comfortable win in C Grade with Peter Klieve the runner-up.

The Barry Maney Sales Group 50 target continental championship was up next and this event was shot with impressive accuracy as competitors attained high scores yet again.

Dunn’s fine form continued as he claimed the AA Grade victory with a score of 49/50.

Don Pratt scored 79/81 to take home the runners-up honours.

Jenkins won A Grade with a score of 49/50, while Scott Fleming was runner-up with a score of 66/69.

Pevitt continued his strong performance in B Grade and claimed the victory with a score of 49/50, with Curtis Copetti the runner-up.

Marcato’s 45/50 was enough to claim the C Grade win ahead of Ian McArthur.

Dunn and Pevitt were also the two newest members in the Black Crow Club, while Jenkins, Wally Wombwell and Blok donated to the fund.

The South East Autotrade highgun award was won by Dunn after a shoot-off with a score of 157/160.

The Mount Gambier Gun Club will hold its next monthly competition on April 8.
