THE Robe Bowling Club’s Caledonian Inn sponsored social bowls on Thursday saw two games of three-bowl pairs and two-bowl triples played, with three two-game winners.
Barry Bennett and Pat Lynch claimed the honours with 55 points, ahead of Rob Lawrie and Peter deLaine with 53, followed by Bill Cook and Dean Nankivell on 51.
The raffle winners were Valma Jennings and Steve Farrell.
The Robe Roosters had a good week in the Super Series, defeating Water Rats Monday evening 40/6 to 37/2.
They backed that up on Thursday evening to defeat Red Lobsters 46/8 to 31/0.
The Roosters now sit third on the ladder.
The Pennant preliminary final results did not go so well for the club, with all three teams losing.
The Friday women’s preliminary final played at Lucindale saw the Division 2 side take on Mount Gambier and Division 3 face Millicent.
In Division 2 Mount Gambier claimed a big 95-26 win.
Judy Phillips, Pam Robinson, Helen Dawson and Judy Bermingham were defeated by Jane Calleja’s team 42-17.
Robbie Dahler, Kerry Peglar, Barb Brown and Tracey Gray were defeated by Beryl Verluis’s team 53-9.
In Division 3 Millicent defeated Robe in a close encounter (48-42), with the lead changing throughout the day.
Carolyn McCusker, Clare deLaine, Ann Moore and Helen Lynch were defeated by Lorraine Hyland’s team 22-19.
Lorraine Dening, Maria Cooper, Bronwyn Matthews and Valma Jennings were defeated by Merle Stevens’ team 26-23.
The Open pennant preliminary final was played at Millicent Saturday, with Division 2 up defeated by Naracoorte RSL 84-54.
Rob Lawrie, Ali Douglas, Peter deLaine and Adrian Bermingham were defeated by Ryan O’Shaughnessy’s team 41-15.
Paul Truelove, Barry Bennett, Mark Murphy and Deane Nankivell were defeated by Chris Castine’s team 21-17.
Gordon Brown, Ross Dening, Jo Sykes and Ken Smith had a draw with David O’Shaughnessy’s team 22 shots all after finishing on the 23rd end and not being able to change the result.
Robe will host its Cos 4’s and Mens Triples on April 1 and 2.
