NORTH GAMBIER v KONGORONG

Round 8 of Limestone Coast Women’s football sees all four games played on Friday night, with two clashes at Vansittart Park and two across the border at Island Park.

The first game on the Mount will see North Gambier host Kongorong at 6.30pm.

The Tigers have been one of the in-form sides of the competition with five wins from seven games and currently occupy top-spot on the ladder.

Kongorong on the other hand has had a mixed season with three wins and three losses.

The Hawks head into the game off the back of a six-goal loss to Penola on Sunday, while North Gambier claimed a nail-biting four-point win over Mundulla last Friday.

Alice Tentye will be a player to watch for the hosts and is the leading goalkicker in the competition with 20 majors from seven games.

She will be supported by Laura Chester and Paris Ackland, who have both been pivotal players for the Tigers.

Chester has played five games this season and has been named amongst North’s best players every time.

For Kongorong, Evie Sealey will look to continue her impressive form this season which has seen her kick eight goals from six games.

Another player to watch will be Tilah Buckingham, who has seven majors to her name from just four games.

This clash will likely be relatively one-sided and the Tigers should cruise to victory to kick off the round.

CASTERTON SANDFORD v MILLICENT

Across the border, action will also kick-off at 6.30pm with Casterton Sandford hosting Millicent.

With the Cats currently in second place with five wins from six games and Millicent in eighth with one win from six this contest will likely be very one-sided.

For the visitors, it will be a case of trying to reduce the damage more than anything.

They will look to Alannah Pratt and Meredith Turner to try and have an impact on what will likely be a very difficult game for the Saints.

For Casterton Sandford, Alena Tranter will be a player to watch in the forward line as she has kicked eight majors this season.

They will also look to Libby Altorfer and Amelia Thomas, who have been consistent performers for the Cats and will be players to watch in what should be a comfortable win for the hosts.

KALANGADOO v MUNDULLA

The Magpies will take on Mundulla at 8.05pm for the second game of the night to be played at Vansittart Park.

Kalangadoo has yet to register a win from its six games this season, while Mundulla has won four and drawn one from six games this year to find itself in third on the ladder.

The Tigers also boast the best percentage in the competition as they have scored 482 points and allowed just 44.

Casey McElroy and Kellsey Hinge have been the most consistent performers for Mundulla, being named in the best players in all six games.

They will be supported by Erin Horsnell and Kaylene Rowett, who have combined for 33 goals this campaign.

For Kalangadoo, Jamie Ryan leads the way for goals scored with three, while Abby Thompson has been a consistent performer.

This clash will likely be the most one-sided game of the round and Mundulla will look to solidify its place in the top four.

KYBYBOLITE v PENOLA

The match of the round will take place at Island Park to conclude the action for the night across the border between two sides battling it out for the top four.

The Tigers head into the contest in impressive form as they have scored at least 201 points and conceded just 14 across their last two games.

Penola has won its last game and fought hard for a 64-28 win over Kongorong on Sunday.

The Eagles will look to last year’s league best and fairest Caroline McGrath to dictate terms and Angela Broad to do the damage in the forward line.

Broad is currently third in the competition for goals kicked with 16 majors in six games and kicked a bag of five in her last outing.

Jasmine Ryan will be another player to watch as she has scored seven goals in just three games for Penola.

For Kybybolite, Taylor Ryan will look to continue her impressive form which has seen her kick 10 goals this season, while Genevieve Blake has scored 15 majors in just three games.

They will be supported by Ella Boston and Dellie Brown, who have both been impressive this campaign.

This is a key matchup in the battle for finals and the Tigers will head into this one as favourites but Penola should not be ruled out.
