IT was a busy day for the Robe Bowls Club on Thursday with the usual weekly social bowls as well as the first round of the Kimberley Clark Super Series.

Rob Lawrie and Trevor Wagner took home the social bowls win with a score of 56 points.

They were closely followed by Errol Jennings and Leanne Cameron, who were runners-up on 54 points.

The raffle winners were Peter deLaine and Dean Nankivell.

The Kimberley Clark Super Series kicked off in the evening with the first contest taking place at Robe.

There were six teams competing in the three-bowl pairs and two-bowl triples.

The Robe Roosters took home the honours in the pairs but suffered defeat in the triples.

However, it was still enough for the hosts to claim the overall victory as they defeated the Mount Gambier Tankers.

The Robe women’s Pennant team played at home on Friday and the Division 2 side claimed victory, while Division 3 went down to Millicent.

Division 2 showed its class as it defeated Naracoorte RSL 41/8 – 35/0.

Robbie Dahler, Kerry Pedlar, Barb Brown and Tracey Gray defeated Linda Prentice’s team 21-17.

The other rink went down to the wire as Judy Phillips, Pam Robinson, Helen Dawson and Judy Bermingham defeated Lindy Mark’s team 20-18 on the final end.

With the regular season completed, Division 2 finished second on the ladder and will play Naracoorte in the second semi-final on Friday.

In Division 3, Millicent was far too good as it won 56/6 – 41/2.

Robe’s Carolyn McCusker, Clare deLaine, Ann Moore and Helen Lynch were defeated by Lorraine Hyland’s team who were on top of their game, with the score 17-33.

In the other rink, Lorraine Dening, Maria Cooper, Bronwyn Matthews and Valma Jennings claimed a thrilling 24-23 win over Merle Steven’s team in a clash where there was very little to separate the two sides all day. Robe will take on Naracoorte this Friday in the first semi-final.

The Saturday Open Pennant was played at Robe and Division 1 claimed an emphatic win over Kingston.

Josh Waddell, David Robinson, Peter Gregory and Glenn Wright drew with Gary Glasson’s team after leading for most of the day, while Errol Jennings, Dean Woodward, Steve Farraell and Stephen Kennett defeated Garry Possingham’s team 25-21.

The other rink was all one-way traffic as Pat Lynch, Dean Burgoyne, Peter Roachock and Harold Manton claimed a big win over Neil Watt’s team, with the final score 36-14.

In Division 2, Robe claimed another big win, this time over Millicent Blue, with the final score 82/12 – 53/0.

Paul Truelove, Barry Bennett, Mark Murphy and Deane Nankivell proved too good for David Taylor’s team as they claimed a 30-19 win.

In the other rinks, Rob Lawrie, Peter deLaine, Ali Douglas and Ricken Bermingham defeated John Drew’s team 24-18, while Doug Baker, Ross Dening, Jo Sykes and Ken Smith claimed a 28-16 win over Bill Davis’s team.

With one round left, Robe currently occupies third place on the ladder.
