DUE to a warm weather forecast for the third round of the Sorrentos Cafe summer trophy, earlier tee-off times were put in place at the Blue Lake Golf Club for the women last Wednesday.

The dreaded Par competition is one of the most disliked formats but Helen Myers and Annette Ford defied that as they both played over or square to their handicaps.

Myers played off 20 and was pleased with her final score of one-up, which included five plusses and two wipes on the outward nine holes to turn three-up.

However, three wipes put the score back to even but a plus on the par five 17th hole and four squared holes kept the lead from Ford.

Ford, who plays off 22 was close on Myers heals and finished a close runner-up as she ended square with the card.

Ford’s card showed plusses on the first, second, eighth, 16th and 18th holes along with five wipes and the rest of the holes all square.

Carol Megaw finished third after a count-back from Ford.

Megaw, played a steady game and registered plusses on the second, third, fourth, fifth and 17th holes and picked up five wipes as well.

Lucy Richards claimed victory in Division 2 after a count-back from Vivienne Wilson as both players finished all square.

Richards scored two plusses on the outward nine and three on the inward to seal the narrow win.

Bev Pascoe was not far behind to finish third after signing for one down after a count-back with Lee Anderson.

The nearest to the pin 2nd shot winners on the par three 16th hole were Josie Ashby in Division 1 and Carol Melhuish in Division 2.

The pro-shot winner was Karen Panagopoulos.
