THE Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competition on Saturday in overcast and windy conditions.

Despite the challenge provided by the weather, shooters still obtained some perfect scores.

The first event of the competition was the Elders Rural Supplies 50-target Skeet Championship.

Shooters looked to hone their skills in this competition as they prepared themselves for the upcoming Australian National Skeet Titles held in Wagga Wagga next month.

A Grade’s Kevin Mules and Liz Rymill both showed their class as they both shot perfect scores of 50/50.

In B Grade, there was nothing to separate Tristan McKinnon and Joe Densley as they both scored a handy 45/50.

Tom Jenkins started the day strongly with 47/50 to edge out Warren Lindner by one target to claim the C Grade title.

The second event of the day was the AJ’s Refrigeration 25-target handicap event.

Andrew Hoare claimed the outright win after he shot a perfect 25/25.

There was a thrilling battle for the minor podium placings as six shooters all shot 24/25 and a shoot-off was needed to decide the positions.

Daniel Robinson took home second place with a score of 37/38, ahead of Tom Weir on 36/38, Willis Jenkins on 32/34 and Stuart Bowd on 31/34.

The final event was the Blue Lake Golf Club 30-target Champion of Champions and shoot-offs were needed across all grades.

Hoare continued his impressive form and claimed the victory in AA Grade with a score of 49/50, ahead of Gavin Height.

Tom Jenkins claimed A Grade with a score of 71/75, while Ken Atkin was runner-up with a score of 65/75.

Tim Lloyd scored 47/50 to win B Grade ahead of Denis Blok, while Robinson claimed the win in C Grade ahead of Garry Allison.

Tom Jenkins’ consistency across all three events was awarded as he took home the South East Autotrade highgun award with a score of 118/125.

The next monthly competition will be held on March 11.
