A near-complete Millicent Magic roster will travel to Torquay for the final round of South West women’s Country Basketball on Saturday.

The Magic visit the Surfcoast Chargers in the only match of the round, with the guests expected to come home with a solid win.

They are guaranteed a top-place finish regardless of this week’s result, after Mount Gambier lost to Portland last week, but defeat is unlikely as the Chargers have just two wins for the season.

The return of two young guns from state duties will boost the roster, while the Magic also welcomes the return of an experienced leader.

“We have Poppy (Venn) and Edie (Easterby) back and Jazzy (Howe) is back from America,” Millicent coach Damien Venn said.

“We still have a few younger ones missing, but we will be close to full strength.

“I would expect us to (have a good win).”

The only starting player unavailable for the round will be Alana Berkefeld due to a wedding, with her sister Emily Winter making the trip across for the match.

Winter is a valuable inclusion, having not played since Round 12 where she shot a huge 39 points, while Georgia Winter impressed in her last outing with a game-high 29.

“If you have Jazzy and Emily in any team you can build around them,” Venn said.

Venn admitted it would be a long day due to travel, but with the talent in Millicent’s roster the drive should produce a strong result prior to finals next week.
