THE Castec Rural Pioneers continue to build their men’s roster, with the latest signing coming from the Canberra Gunners.
Will Mayfield will join the Pioneers from NBL1 East competition, to play in the South conference in season 2023.
Mayfield averaged 17.6 points per game at 52.9\ per cent through the 2022 NBL1 East season, including a season high of 34 points against Illawarra in August, together with 4.3 ebounds and 3.1 assists each game.
The signing of Mayfield further strengthens the Pioneers roster and provides head coach Richard Hill further options on the floor.
Hill said he is pleased to have Mayfield commit to be a Pioneer in 2023.
“Will had a tremendous season in a championship winning team last year,” he said.
“He is a do it all, tough and competitive player whose versatility will see him log minutes at the two, three and four spots for us.
“I expect Will to become a fan favourite very quickly with his combative, wholehearted play.”
The Castec Rural Pioneers and the OneFortyOne Pioneers will commence their 2022 NBL1 South campaigns in April 2023.
