THE Millicent Magic women will look to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing loss in Round 13 of the Country Basketball League season when they host the Terang Tornadoes on Saturday night.

The Magic has been the form team of the competition, but last week took a skinny roster across the border on a hot Sunday and simply ran out of gas.

Just six players took to the court, with an early injury making the job even tougher.

Coach Damian Venn said at the time he was extremely proud of their effort considering the situation.

After such a strong start to the season the loss has had little effect on the ladder, as the magic still sit clear of Mount Gambier at the pointy end of the ladder.

Saturday night’s game will see a change of pace, with the Tornadoes languishing win-less at the bottom of the ladder.

It is hard to see the Magic girls letting this one slip away, with Venn keen to get back on court.

“Hopefully we will have a fuller roster this weekend,” he said.

“We will look to get this one out of the way and go from there.”

Last week saw youngster Edie Easterby topped the score sheets with 24 points, while Georgia Winter managed 16.

With Poppy Venn out early with an injury, Piper Paul, in her first game, Lillie Paul and Alana Berkefeld were left to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

The experience of Bekefeld will no doubt be called upon again this weekend, while several others should be available for the home game.

Last time the two sides faced off the Magic claimed a 36-point victory, also with a somewhat depleted roster.

The result could well be similar this week as Millicent looks to return to the winner’s list.
