MILLICENT Magic’s Country Basketball League women proved too much for their Terang hosts in Round 10 of the South West competition on the weekend.

The Magic made the trip to face the Tornadoes in the only women’s fixture of the round, coming away with a 36-point victory.

In the end it was a matter of supply, as Millicent had four of its seven players break double figures, led by young talent Edie Easterby with 24 points.

Jasmin Howe was also prolific with 21, while Georgia Winter and Poppy Venn scored 15 and 14 respectively in another showing of depth despite the absence of Emily Winter and Jess Venn.

The game opened with a tight first quarter and the Magic held a two-point advantage at the first break.

However, a huge 26-10 point second term set up the win and from there Terang could not recover.

Millicent held an 18-point lead heading into the second half and it then went on to outscore its host in the third and fourth quarters as well.

In the third they scored 21 points to Terang’s 11, while a 21-13 fourth quarter sealed the deal and handed the Magic a valuable percentage boost.

For the Tornadoes Leah Bartlett top scored with 19, while Grace Taylor was the only other player in double figures with 11 points.

The win keeps Millicent on top of the premiership table heading into an anticipated top-order battle with Mount Gambier at home this weekend.
