Wild weather for shooters

A STRONG field of 61 braved wet and windy conditions at the recent Lake Bonney Sporting Clays 75-target event.

There was no perfect 25/25 on the day, with the high-gun award won by Danny Bellinger with a 71/75.

He was followed by Mick Banning, who secured the AA Grade honours one target ahead of Mark Fabris.

In A Grade it was Michael Brilley who topped the field from Tony Sellars and Rob Whitty.

Local shooter Cliff Lee had a comfortable lead in B Grade and claimed the win over Peter Hale and Ian Vearing, while a count-back was required to decide the top placings in C Grade.

The three shooters all scored 51/75, with Alex Gordon winning the count-back, followed by Michael Gates and Guy Stratford.

The Seniors grade was taken out by Bruce Oakley from Scott McIntyre, while Ernie Scheidl secured top spot in Veterans, just two targets ahead of runner-up Wayne Gurney and Geoff Lowe rounded out the podium.

For the women it was no surprise to see Tasha Bellinger at the head of the field, with Bec Kober in second and Sam Freeman in third.

Shak VonStanke won the Sub Juniors with a 61/75, ahead of James Whitty and Charlie Sims.

Thanks goes out to all volunteers for their efforts in the wild weather, with the club now turning its attention to this Saturday’s 60-target novelty Christmas shoot.
