RESIDENTS who have been paying at-tent-ion will have seen the big top going up at the Mount Gambier Showgrounds.

The Circus has arrived, ready for a week of performing for families in the Mount Gambier area.

The Circus general manager Greg Hall said Mount Gambier is the seventh stop on its Australian tour and he is looking forward to seeing families enter the tent.

Mr Hall said there are two main things he loves to see at the show and he is hoping to see them both here.

“I like going in and watching the daredevil, thrill-seeking acts, but I don’t watch the act; I watch the audience and get their reaction – I love it,” he said.

“I love it at the end of the show when there’s a buzz when everyone comes out, and I sort of meander around the crowd at the end and hear what they’re saying.

“I love that buzz at the end, when the town has that buzz, it’s great.”

Mr Hall said Mount Gambier was already delivering the goods, with very little rain marring their set up after wet weather since the tour started in July.

“We had one stretch in Tassie there, we counted we had five days in a row of no rain – I didn’t say sunshine,” he said.

“So here we are here and hardly any rain at all – terrific.”

The Circus artistic director and aerialist Kiarnna Weber said being part of a circus was very different to what people expected.

“My family is seventh generation, so circus is all I’ve known my whole entire life,” she said.

“I love travelling everywhere; when you’re in one town too long, you start getting bored and you start wanting to see new scenery.

“You get a real adrenaline rush from being on stage, performing in front of so many people, and it’s just the normal.”

Ms Weber said the show will have everyone on the edge of their seats and she hopes to see people “blown away”.

“I hope that the people of Mount Gambier get two hours off their phones and get to come in and watch the show,” she said.

“We get a really good reception with this show.”

The Circus will kick off with its first show on Thursday, December 1 and will run until Sunday, December 11.
