IT was a disappointing pill to swallow for the Millicent Magic women last week.

They suffered their first loss of the 2022-23 Country Basketball League season at the hands of cross-town rivals Mount Gambier.

Both sides were down on numbers and the Magic girls could not match the Lakers when it mattered, going down by just five points.

As a result they lost top spot on the ladder and will want to bounce back this week to atone for that loss.

The Horsham Hornets will be on the end of it, with the Magic sure to hit the court hard with a more-balanced roster expected.

Jasmin Howe and Alana Berkefeld led the side against the Lakers last week and will hope for some more experienced support this time around.

While the younger players stood tall against the Lakers, Mount Gambier was also down on numbers and if Horsham bring a full roster across the border, the task will certainly be a bit harder.

However, prior to the loss, the Magic were all-but untouchable and should return to that form this weekend to claim a strong home-court victory.
