IN chilly weather last Wednesday a stableford four-ball-better-ball competition was played by the women at the Blue Lake Golf Club.
After finishing all the major events for 2022 the day was a success and was sponsored by The RSL Bar and Bistro for first place, Swallow Drive Meats for second place and the Metro Bakery and Cafe for third place.
The winning team of Annette Ford and Lyn Gill combined well to finish with 40 points, which included two four-pointers from Gill, helping them to first place honours on a count-back from the team of Dianne Allen and Shannon McDonnell.
Third place went to the team of Josie Ashby and Cherryl Hill with 39 points, followed by Lynette Hirth and Trudy Herbert on a count-back from Helen Myers and Jenny Johnson, both 37 points.
The pro-shot was won by Sue Agars and nearest to pin second shot by Ronda Edwards in Division 1 and Jaynee Oberer in Division 2.
Ferrets were had by Rosemary Martland and Jenny Johnson.
Only a few ventured out on Saturday with the extreme wild weather predicted and it was a brave three who actually finished the par competition.
Women’s captain Geraldine Scott, off 25, certainly was not worried by the weather, able to sign for 2-up, turning +2 on the outward nine and squaring the inward nine.
Rosemary Martland off 13 did not disgrace herself with two even nine’s of 2-down, finishing 4-down.
In third place Fiona Punton also finished 4-down after a count-back.
Punton had a good front nine with 1-up, then struggled on the back nine with 5-down, but was rewarded with a ball for her nearest to pin.
Meanwhile, women’s season trophies were handed out last week.
