IT was a tough weekend for the Blue Lake Knights as they suffered a big loss to the Warrnambool Raiders in Round 9 of Limestone Coast rugby league.

With just one win for the season prior to the clash, the Knights would have hoped for a stronger performance to take something from the season.

However, with Warrnambool’s season on the line, the Raiders were relentless, finding the try line on nine occasions, with five conversions for a 46-12.

Karl Schaefer managed to convert both of the Knights’ tries but there was little else to cheer about on a tough day at Warrnambool.

The focus will now shift to Naracoorte where the Knights face a tough Stawell Mounties this weekend.

The Mounties currently sit in second position on the ladder with just two losses for the season.

Last time the two sides faced off the Mounties claimed the win 36-16.

That was back in Round 3 and the Knights would hope to have gained some extra skills and experience since then.

However, the Knights will need some strong defence, as the Mounties ran over seven tries in that last clash.
