LAKES Junior Tennis held its 2022 singles tournament at Olympic Park on Sunday.

After a day of strong competition, all-but the top boys’ grade title was decided.

The A Grade boys had a large field, with the competition split into two pools of six players.

At the end of the day, both Kobe Cole and Toby Stutley had emerged undefeated which left a final to be played.

However, the rain set in and the decider had to be rescheduled for Monday evening.

With 24 hours to prepare, both boys came out firing in cold, blustery conditions.

Impressive tennis came from both sides, but in the end Cole claimed the win 6-3 and with it the 2022 A Grade boys singles title.

The A Grade girls was contested by six girls, with Jessica Stutley claiming the honours with an undefeated record in the round robin format.

She added the trophy to her doubles title, which she won just last month.

Maggie Collins was runner-up for the grade, with her only loss a 6-3 result to Stutley.

Josh Milan topped the B Grade boys, while Ruben Otta finished runner-up and the B Grade girls competition was won by Kiersten Cole, whose closest rival was Zarah Thami.

There was also two pools in the C Grade boys, which saw Zach Angelino and Beau Maxwell top the class.

After a tight final between the two, it was Angelino who prevailed 5-4 to clinch the title.

There were five girls contest the C Grade title, which was won by Matilda Peacock.

She finished with 20 games, after winning all four of her matches, while Airlee Sawyer and Paige Telford both came in with 15.

However, their head-to-head was won by Sawyer 5-4, earning her the runner-up placing.

Mount Gambier and District junior tennis will now enjoy a week off, with a bye from competition due to the Christmas Parade.
