WHILE the Mount Gambier Lakers women are currently undefeated in the Country Basketball League this season, a real test will come on Sunday when they host the Surfcoast Chargers.

The advantage for the Lakers is they only have one clash this weekend, while the Chargers face a well-drilled top-of-the-table Millicent Magic on Saturday night.

The Lakers sit second on the ladder after three wins from as many games, while the Chargers have lost two, but from four outings to sit down in fourth spot.

The Lakers showed plenty of grit last week, with a hard-fought four-point win over the Warrnambool Seahawks.

While just Olivia Wormald reached double figures, with 16 points to her name, there were plenty of other individual efforts, including some solid defence which resulted in turnovers.

In recent weeks Sarah Ritter has been in impressive form, especially her game against Terang, where the Lakers dominated and Ritter dropped 27 points.

She was also helped out in that game with the return to the court of Keryl Oussey, a valuable asset for the Lakers.

Sophie Miles is always energetic at the point and controls the game well, while the Horrigan girls, Mikaela and Casey are always exciting to watch.

The list goes on and with a full roster, the Lakers are a tough opponent.

After the Millicent women are finished with the Chargers, there just might be little in the tank to tackle Mount Gambier, with the Lakers set to chalk up another win.
