In what is being described as “the biggest tour in Australian music history”, Aussie band Kingswood will rock Mount Gambier this weekend.

They will perform at the Stone and Dust Festival tomorrow, as part of their biggest tour yet.

The tour will see the band do more than 60 performances across the nation for their Hometowns tour, and Lead singer Fergus Linacre said it was the biggest tour in Australian history.

It all kicks off in Mount Gambier on Saturday.

Mr Linacre said Mount Gambier was a beautiful part of the world and the band was excited to have the opportunity to come back to the city.

“People are struggling to travel into cities to see big shows and when bands only go into big cities then some people do miss out,” Mr Linacre said.

“We have always been a band which tours a lot and we thought why not get out there and see as many people as we can.”

Mr Linacre said the festival would be great, and would be a great environment to work in again.

“Festivals are so much fun, obviously there are a lot of people there and you get to hang out with other bands and have a good time,” he said.

“We have played with all of them before one time or another, so I think it will be very friendly and a lot of comradery in the backstage area.”

Mr Linacre added all bands in the lineup were looking forward to returning to the stage.

“We haven’t been able to play shows in so long so these things are just very exciting for all of us,” he said.

“No one is thinking that this is just another gig, we are all hyped up and keen to play.”

Mr Linacre said he may need to be asked again if he wanted to participate in a tour the same size as the one they are currently a part of after the shows were finished.

“We just did 30 dates in a row in America and Europe and we all wished there was a show on when we got back,” he said.

“We have always been a band which focuses on regional touring but never to this extent.

“I think that’s one of the things our fans love about us is we do go out into regional areas and we love seeing parts of Australia we’ve never seen before.”

He also said the tour was only currently in “phase one” of its performances, with more dates and locations to be announced in the near future.

Kingswood will take the stage at the Stone and Dust festival in Mount Gambier on November 12.
