GOOD news continues to roll in for the Mount Gambier Pioneers women, with the re-signing of Cassandra Brown for the 2023 NBL1 season.

The 190.5cm Canadian brings experience to the roster and her signing follows the recent recommitment of American import Haliegh Reinoehl, with both 2022 international signings back on board for next year.

Brown is a high-performing player, with experience in leagues in Luxembourg, Sweden, Greece, Slovakia and Poland.

She has represented Canada at both Under 18 level and, more recently, was part of the Canadian team in the 2019 Pan American Games.

Brown has played professionally since she left University in 2015.

Mount Gambier Pioneers women’s head coach Matt Sutton was ecstatic to hear Brown will remain part of his roster for the coming season.

“It is great to have Cassandra back,” he said.

“She’s a true professional that brings a lot of experience to our group.

“Her commitment to both ends of the court sets a standard for our team and her versatility gives us flexibility in our line ups.”

In her debut NBL1 season in 2022, Brown averaged 50.7pc shooting from the field with an impressive 19.42 points per game, together with an average of 7.71 rebounds.

In 2023 she will continue to add extra depth to the team as both an excellent offensive contributor and strong defensive performer.
