THE Lakers women proved too strong for the Portland Coasters when the two sides clashed in Round 2 of the Country Basketball League season.

The Lakers faced Portland on their home court but that did not affect the final result, with a solid 93-69 victory.

That was set up early, as the visitors were out to a handy eight-point advantage at the first break and never looked back from there.

A slightly tighter second quarter still saw the Lakers take the advantage and lead at the main break by a handy 13 points.

The third term opened the game up, as the Lakers found something extra to stretch the lead out further.

They banged on 23 points to the Coasters’ 12 and cruised home from there.

The final even quarter had no effect on the final outcome, as the Lakers had already stamped their authority on the contest.

Sarah Ritter was the most prolific scorer for the Lakers with 28 points, followed by Tara Bryant with 14 and Olivia Wormald with 10.
