IT will be a return to the Icehouse for the Mount Gambier Lakers men this weekend, as they host the Colac Kookas in Round 3 of the Country Basketball League season.

The Lakers have played just the one game this season, with a solid victory over Portland Coasters last week.

A strong roster have provided a real chance for the Lakers to go deep into the season, with this match-up another chance to continue on their winning way early in the season.

The Kookas have played three games so far, with a tight Round 1 win over the Warrnambool Seahawks, followed by a defeat at the hands of the Coasters.

They then went down to the Surfcoast Chargers by 10 points.

While the Lakers defeated Portland by 23 points, the Kookas went down by nine, suggesting Mount Gambier may have the stronger roster.

However, it is early in the season and no real patterns have emerged.

The Kookas will also face a double-header this weekend, having to front up against the Millicent Magic on Saturday night, before the Lakers clash on Sunday.

The Magic is still an unknown quantity, with their first game of the season this weekend.

It should help the Lakers who will be fresh on Sunday and raring to go in front of their home crowd.

The Magic hit the court at Millicent at 7.30pm Saturday, with the Lakers to play at 11.30am on Sunday at the Icehouse.
