THE summer opening of the Robe Bowling Club was held recently, with patron and centurion Vic Dawson putting down the first mat and jack.
Last year’s singles champion Rob Lawrie put down the first bowl.
The runners-up for the day, sponsored by Pam and David Robinson, were Josh Waddell, Jan Fisk and Ken Smith.
Winners, sponsored by AMPOL Ltd, were Leanne Cameron, Rob Lawrie and Stephen Kennett. Afternoon tea was enjoyed by all after the game.
Last Thursday’s social bowls, sponsored by the Caledonian Inn and the Robe Golf Club, saw three two-game winners.
Stephen Kennett, Robbie Dahler and Peter DeLaine claimed the win with 57 points, ahead of Peter Gregory, Kerry Boyd and Gordon Brown with 55.
Fluer Roachock, Josh Waddell and Paul Truelove finished third with 51 points.
Robe Ladies Fours, Open BPL and Matt’s Plumbing 100-up will be played this week.
