Young stars to set the scene

Robe will look to claim the 17 and Under Mid South East football premiership after a stellar year, but will have to account for a tough Hatherleigh side.

17 and Under: Hatherleigh v Robe

The rising stars of the Mid South Eastern Football League are set to put on a good display in the grand final on Saturday.

The 17 and Under clash between Hatherleigh and Robe promises to be a tight affair, going on minor-round performances and finals results.

Robe completed the minor rounds undefeated, while Hatherleigh dropped only its two games against the Roosters.

Both results were convincing wins to Robe but that all changed in the post-season.

The two sides faced off in the second semi-final at Mount Burr oval and Hatherleigh claimed the win by 20 points.

It was a come-from-behind performance as the Eagles trailed by five points at the main break.

By the final change they held a nine-point advantage and never let up from there.

Robe was then forced to go through the preliminary final, where they easily accounted for Kongorong.

It suggests this one is anything but decided, with the perfect stage provided on Saturday at Kalangadoo to settle the score.

14 and Under: Kongorong v Glencoe

For the youngest members of the Mid South Eastern Football League, the grand final is again between to two dominant teams from the minor rounds.

Both Kongorong and Glencoe lost just one game each, with both boasting huge percentages compared to those further down the ladder.

The Hawks finished top after the minor rounds, with only percentage separating the two sides.

Head-to-head the ledger sits at one game each, but the semi-final clash went the way of Kongorong to the tune of 21 points.

That would give confidence to the young Hawks but the result is certainly not cut and dried.

As it should be on grand final day, the opening game should set the scene for an entertaining day of football.
