Robe finished its Mid South East minor rounds off with a strong victory over win-less Nangwarry.

Robe turned over the first centre pass and with strong holding and accurate shooting from Sarah Laurie, was off to a solid start.

The Saints took a few centre passes to find their feet but were able to get on the scoreboard early with patient passing from Kylie Heaver into Ange Pratt and Tahlia Wilson.

Annie Hunter was a focal point in the middle for Robe, drove onto the circle well and passed into Laurie with ease, who converted every opportunity.

Nangwarry’s defence worked tirelessly trying to stop Halle Carter and Sarah Laurie but they proved to be too strong in the first quarter as the Roosters went to the first break 17 goals up.

Robe once again came out firing, working the ball onto their circle edge with ease and with precise passing from Hunter and Demi McCarthy, was able to score quickly.

The Saints drove the ball well into their attack line when they had possession and Wilson was able to do give and go’s with Heaver to get herself in a better shooting range.

Carly Ploenges continued to work tirelessly in defence for Nangwarry trying to curb the quick passes into Robe’s goalies who were both shooting with accuracy, with the Roosters up by 27 goals at the main break.

The third quarter saw Nangwarry make some changes.

Kylie Heaver went to centre, Ebony Lawson to WD and Jemma Parsons came on at GD.

The changes seemed to work in Nangwarry’s favour and the Saints were able to get a jump on Robe early.

Laurie was still a focal point in the goal circle for the Roosters but Ploenges was able to take a few intercepts to stop the run.

Heaver drove well through the middle for Nangwarry and had a great tussle with Hunter.

Wilson and Pratt stepped up a notch for Nangwarry in the goal circle and were able to find their groove, scoring every opportunity.

It looked like a more even quarter but Robe extended its lead to 40 goals.

In the last quarter neither team made any changes and it was a similar contest to the third term.

Ellen Ramke and Emma Grant worked well to turn over any opportunity they could and rebounded strongly for Robe.

While the Saints stepped up in the final term, the damage was already done and Robe took the win by 49 goals.

Best players for the victors were Laurie and Carter, while Heaver and Prat were best for the Saints.
