JOHN MILES posted the round of the day on Thursday with 41 points at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.

Miles played off 18 and scored 22 points at the halfway point, which was highlighted by a birdie for four points on the fourth hole.

He backed up his impressive start with 19 points on the back nine.

Dane Hendrick was runner-up with 39 points, while Charles Goode and Ross Bond were close behind with 38 points each.

Crisp and pristine conditions greeted golfers on Saturday for the stableford competition.

Jason Millhouse top-scored with 40 points.

His round included a very steady eight pars and 10 bogeys to post a very respectable 82 off the stick.

Millhouse’s 40 points was enough for him to claim the B Grade win by two points over David Douglas.

New member Asim Cheema took the C Grade win with 39 points.

Cheema is a regular around the putting green and constantly works on his short game amidst a sea of yellow balls.

The hard work paid off for him and he claimed the win by four points over Peter Jones.

In A Grade, popular clubman Craig Foster posted an excellent 38 points to win by one point over Jeff Olafsen.

Foster played off six and shot a 76 off the stick, with his only blemish being a triple-bogey on the 13th hole.

However, back-to-back birdies on the ninth and 10th holes and another on the 18th meant the dame was repaired.

The ball rundown extended to 32 points with Jason Mann the last player to claim a win.

Nearest to the pin on the eighth hole went to Archy Arch and Kevin Cook on the 16th.

However, only Arch was able to roll in his birdie putt.
