MOUNT Gambier’s motorcyclists recently travelled to Hamilton to take part in the Pony Express endurance race.

The race was a teamed event with riders sharing duties with a partner over the four hours and was contested by 22 people.

The enduro saw a number of riders from the Mount Gambier Junior Motorcycle Club take part and revel in success.

Kelvin Cook teamed up with Corey Gibbs, who is currently second in the South Australian title.

The pair finished fifth overall and won the Over 80-years class.

Cook said he was happy to claim the win.

He has been a member of the Mount Gambier Junior Motorcycle Club for “about eight years” but has only sporadically competed in races this year.

The success for the club was not limited to the seniors competition, as Blake Healy put in a strong performance to claim second-place in the Iron-Man.

Tate Cook and Xavier Hunter proved to be a strong combination as they were runners-up in the Junior class, while Max Gartner and Jake Fishpool were sixth in their class.

The club will hold its next event this Sunday at Glenroy for the seventh round of the Grass Track Series.
