WITH some women from the Blue Lake Golf Club still on their annual pilgrimage chasing the warmer weather, 17 players rugged up against the cold last week for the fourth round of the Marlene Lingham Memorial stableford trophy sponsored by the Blue Lake Bar and Bistro.

The score of the day of 35 points came from handicapper Dianne Perryman and served as an early birthday present.

Playing off 21, Perryman had a clean card, recording no scrubs and a front nine score of 20 which included four-three pointers and a minor score of 15 on the inward nine.

Second-placed Rosemary Martland (13) also had no scrubs on her card and was pleased with her consistent fairway shots, along with pars on the second, ninth, 12th, 14th and 15th holes, amassing 33 points with splits of 16/17.

Beryl Mahoney (30) was pleased to be back in the winner’s circle for Division 2 after posting 32 points, also scoring on every hole, with two three-pointers on the front nine.

Dianne Allen (40) was only one point behind Mahoney, signing for 31 points, which included three three-pointers and only one scrub on the eighth hole.

After a good front nine of 18 points, the back nine proved a bit difficult, with just 13.

Nearest to pin second shot winner’s on the par 3 14th hole were Cherryl Hill in Division 1 and Mahoney in Division 2.

Josie Ashby was the pro-shot winner on the fifth hole.

A birdie prize was given to Ronda Edwards on the 12th hole and ferret prizes to Mahoney on the sixth, Trudy Herbert on the 16th and Pascoe on the 17th.

Almost perfect weather returned for Saturday but with the course still heavy underfoot.

As a result, good scores for the par round were hard to attain for the 11 women and the win went to Karen Panagopoulos (28), with her score of 4-down after recovering from 3-down on the front.

The front nine included just the one par, with a better back nine of 1-down and pars on the 14th, 15th and 17th holes.

Second place with 5-down went to Ashby (21), who also struggled on the front with 3-down and 2-down on the back, with pars on the fifth, 14th and 15th holes.

Bev Pascoe (31) finished with 6-down and par’s on the 14th and 18th holes for third place.
