Glencoe maintained its hold of second place with a solid win over Hatherleigh in Round 15 of Mid South East netball.

The Murphies started strong and were quick to add to the scoreboard.

They got an early jump on the home side and scored the first six goals of the game.

Glencoe’s Malinda Markiewicz and Jenna Paproth combined well and converted any opportunity which came their way.

The Eagles bounced back from their slow start and fought their way back into the contest with some quick turnovers from their defence.

Glencoe’s Chloe Pfitzner and Hatherleigh’s Georgia Hunter had a great tussle on and off the ball.

The game was fast and intense which saw every ball heavily contested.

The Murphies went into the first break with a four goal lead.

Glencoe started the second quarter strongly but Hatherleigh stepped up.

Sarah Edwards and Chantelle Cocks continued to shut down space in the goal circle for Maddie Redman and Abby Wight.

However, Hunter and Erin Watson continued to be patient and worked the ball around until they found Wight and Redman, who converted for their side.

The home side trailed by just three goals at the main break and brought Tegan Telfer into the game for the second half.

The Eagles started the second half strongly as they applied heavy defensive pressure.

However, Glencoe played with confidence and proved why it is a finals contender.

The defensive combination of Demi Vanderhorst, Lara MacGregor and Chelsea Galpin proved tough to get past.

Any highballs in the circle were snatched up by Vanderhorst, who was best on court for the home side.

Ashlea Edwards was solid for Glencoe and was able to feed the ball with accuracy and patience.

Markiewicz and Paproth were huge in the third quarter as they helped the Murphies take a nine-goal lead at three-quarter time.

The final quarter was an even contest but the visitors were able to extend their lead by one to claim a 10-goal win.

Cocks and Markiewicz were the best on court for Glencoe as the pair led their side to victory.
