THE reigning Western Border netball premiers have started to look ominous as they build towards the 2022 finals series.

Missing key defender Bo Creek, star mid courter Emily Hunter and in-form goaler Sarah Lock, East Gambier was dominant in its victory over Casterton Sandford.

The Bulldogs set the tone with an 18-3 opening quarter and never took their foot off the pedal from there.

Led by consistent mid courter Tarsh McCallum, Teagan Gray took the goal attack bib, while experienced mid courter Brooke Hicks entered at wing attack and Sharna McKinnon filled the defensive role.

They were never troubled and despite a fight back from the Cats in the second term to win the quarter by two goals, it was one-way traffic again after half time.

McCallum found good connection with Amryn Bosko under the net, who finished accurately to convert 44 goals from 50 attempts in a stunning display of composure.

Talented junior Indi Dwyer earned her A Grade debut in the final quarter and she took to wing defence as Tyne Bosko moved to centre and McCallum took her preferred wing attack role.

Dwyer acquitted herself well in her first taste of senior action.

Scarlett Jarrad was again the Cats’ best with her hard two-way running, while Madalene Cleary worked overtime at goal attack despite the lack of supply.

Morgan Amy enjoyed a rare run at goal defence and combined with Tyne Bosko and McKinnon.

The Bulldogs now hold onto third place with a one-win buffer over North and South Gambier in fourth and fifth respectively.
