Zeven wins Saturday’s stableford competition

DEAN ZEVEN blitzed the field to claim Saturday’s stableford round ahead of 87 other competitors at the Blue Lake Golf Club.

Zeven scored 41 points to seal the victory and has been in strong form recently, which has brought his handicap down.

A Grade winner, Bruce Morale, hit an impressive 40 points.

Morale started slowly with only 17 points on the front nine but came home strong with a 35 off the stick, to score 23 points on the back nine.

Former Blue Lake captain, Matthew Jennings found some from with an impressive 37 points.

Richard Kuhn rounded out the top three with 15 points on the front nine and 22 on the back.

Simon Perryman took B Grade honours with 40 points.

Perryman enjoyed an impressive day which included birdies throughout.

Colin Stratford was runner-up with 38 points and was left to rue a missed opportunity on the seventh hole, which could have given him a higher score.

A consistent Suvas KC won C grade with an impressive 38 points.

Brodie Dixon claimed second place with 37 points and Simun Lalich was the final place-getter with 34 points.

Lalich had a slow start with 13 points at the halfway point but finished strongly with 21 points on the final nine.

Shannon Fullerton led the ball winners for the day with a score of 37 points.

Fullerton’s game could have been much better and will be left to rue missed putts.

Rodney Heinrich, Nick Wilson, Tyson Ploenges, Marc Dalton,

Wayne Dunford, Damian Dixon, Jay Ilsley, Anthony Riddoch and Derek Sargeant were the other ball

winners.

David Dowie won the pro shot on the fifth hole while Andrew Russell was the winner on the 16th.

The nearest-to-pin winners were David Atkins and Gary Fox.

There were 13 women who took part on Saturday as Josie Ashby claimed the win with 30 points.

Her round included four pars in an impressive display.

Jorja Morale was second on a count-back with 30 points.

Her round started strongly with 21 points on the front nine but was only able to score nine points on the inward nine.

Dianne Perryman claimed third place with 29 points, which included 14 points on the front nine and 15 on the back.
