Hodge wins at Attamurra

BIRDIE: Bryce Cutting won a birdie ball in last Thursday's round at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.

JEFF HODGE claimed the 100 dollar winner’s cheque last Thursday with an impressive 39 points at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.

An up and down front nine was saved by birdies on the fifth and eighth holes which saw him turn with 17 points.

However, a one over par 37 on the back nine and 22 points saw him soar to the top of the leaderboard.

Hodge played the last four holes in two under which included a birdie on the final hole.

Kevin Cook claimed second place on a count-back after Mathew Dixon, Peter Lock and Jack Jennings all finished on 36 points.

Cook’s one over par back nine and 21 points secured him the 50 dollar consolation prize.

Jim Leane took the pro-shot on the eighth hole, while Paul Kenny won the pro-shot on the 16th.

However, neither play was able to sink their birdie putts.

Locked scored two birdie balls with a par of 2’s on the sixth and eighth holes, while Dixon, Nic Clayton, Bryce Cutting, Tim McLean and Hodge all settled for one.

Tim Scarth had the round of the day on Saturday with 38 points.

The Blue Lake Golf Club member claimed the C Grade winner’s cheque from Paul Braithwaite on 34 points.

Popular member and 5GTR radio host, Tim Kenny, took A Grade as he scored 37 points, while Cook continued his form from Thursday to finish runner-up on 36 points.

In B grade, club stalwart, Brad Von Duve claimed first prize on a count-back from Dave Boyce, after both players finished on 36 points.

Boyce was left to rue a double bogey, bogey finish while Von Duve came home with 20 points on the back nine.

This was highlighted with a score of four, which gave him four points on the 11th hole.

The ball rundown extended to 31 points and Jeff Olafsen claimed the last one.

Bryan Pink claimed the pro-shot on the eighth hole, while Clint Mitchell claimed it on the 16th.

Pink was able to convert his shot to score a birdie on the eighth hole but Mitchell was unable to sink his birdie putt.

However Mitchell claimed a birdie ball on the eighth hole, as well as Nick Black and David McGregor on the 10th.
