Hunt claims back-to-back monthly medals

A SMALL field of 24 women braved the cold conditions for the latest round at the Mount Gambier Golf Club last Wednesday.

There were 20 golfers who competed in the fourth monthly medal competition in conjunction with the second round of the Winter Salver, while four players took part in a stableford round.

The fairways and greens were slower due to damp conditions but there were still impressive scores recorded.

Leanne Hunt claimed a second successive monthly medal with a net score of 76.

Hunt was challenged on the front nine holes but rallied on the back nine as she completed the last four holes in style with two pars and two birdies.

Janina Morrison was runner-up with a net score of 77, while Helen McIntyre rounded out the top three with a score of 78.

D Grade champion, Linda Boylan played in the stableford round and won with 37 points.

Boylan scored 18 points on the front nine and finished strongly with 19 on the inward nine.

She also claimed the pro-shot prize on the eight hole.

The ball run down winners were Carol Davis and Sue Coulter.

The second shot on the 17th hole prizes were won by Davis in A Grade, Kate McCormick in B Grade and Maureen Sims in C Grade.

McIntyre returned to the clubhouse as a winner on Saturday with a score of 35 points.

Jill Johnson was runner-up with as she carded 30 points.

In the small field of 11 women, Heather Chapman, Gemma Winterborn and Jan Shanahan were successful in the ball rundown and Shanahan won the pro-shot on the eighth hole.
