THE Mount Gambier District Indoor Bowls Association held its fourth Association championship recently.

The 2022 Faith Jewellers/David and Jane Peacock Mixed Pairs Championship was contested by a strong field of 30 teams.

However, there could be only one winner and it was the father-daughter combination of Tony and Nicola Bowditch who took out back-to-back championships.

They competed for the honours against mother-son duo Fiona and Zac Pearson in the grand final.

The match started with the Bowditch’s scoring on the first two ends before the Pearson’s scored on the next three to claim the lead.

On the sixth end the scores were level which left the final end to decide the championship.

The Bowditch duo held one shot with Zac Pearson the last to bowl.

However, he failed to convert, giving Tony and Nicola Bowditch a back-to-back win, five shots to four.

To reach the decider the Bowditch’s first met the in-form husband-wife pair of Kevin and Carla Pannell in the first semi-final.

After a dominant display Tony and Nicola Bowditch won 14-1 to book their place in the grand final.

The second semi-final was won by the Pearsons, as they defeated the Commercial Club pair of Mary Lockwood and Rod Fleming 15 shots to one.

Consolation semi-finals were also contested, where Veronica Opie and Trevor Williams defeated Heather Glynn and Vince Mancuso 6-5, while Bronwyn Hill and Robert Freemantle accounted for Chris Carn and Peter Gregory 7-3.

In the final Opie and Williams prevailed to defeat Hill and Freemantle 9-4 to win the consolation honours.
