North Gambier v West Gambier

MUCH will be at stake when West Gambier travels across town to play North Gambier at Vansittart Park tomorrow.

The Round 12 Western Border football clash between third and fourth on the ladder will be an important fixture for both sides.

For West a win would ensure a more stable foothold inside the top four, while for the Tigers it would give them a valuable two-game buffer in third place.

The record sits at a win apiece from their previous meetings this year.

The first was a nail-biting three-point win to the Roos, while the most recent encounter handed North a 21-point win.

The Tigers have started to settle nicely and the new game style implemented by coach Ben Hardy has started to really come to the forefront.

That attacking brand of football will be on show again this week and if they are able to find the same connection across the ground as they did against East last week, the Roos could be in trouble.

North could not put a foot wrong against the Bulldogs, with Sam Stafford leading the charge with nine goals.

The usual suspects of Nick McInerney, Brett Shepherdson and Justin McConnell were also in fine touch and can be expected to carry that form into the round.

For West it was a big third quarter which earned it a win over Casterton Sandford last week.

Kyle Giddings was impressive, while the likes of Lewis Lean, Michael Minuzzo and Lawry Bradley-Brown have all been in top form of late.

The Tigers will be favoured for the win but the Roos should not be underestimated.
