Pleasant conditions for mid-week competition

MILD weather greeted 80 players at the Mount Gambier Golf club last week for the Thursday competition and Dennis Smith made the most of it with the round of the day.

Smith finished with 39 points, a highlight a birdie-two on the par 3 eighth hole.

Gary Wilson claimed second place after a count-back from Nick Black, as both posted 37 points.

Nigel Payne, Stephen Wyte, Grant Stephenson and Tim Maclean all carded 36 points.

The pro shot on the eighth hole went to Bob Dalgano and on the 16th Ken Whitehead took the honours.

Unfortunately neither player was able to roll in their birdie putt.

David Millard posted the round of the day on Saturday with 43 points and claimed the C Grade win as well, with Max Tollner in second place.

A count-back in A Grade was required, with Daniel Whitehead and David Pick both posting 38 points.

In B grade Paul Kenny claimed the win with 38 points, pipping Mathew Dixon by a solitary point.

The pro shot on the eighth hole went to Setio Shanahan and Tim Kenny claimed the honour on the 16th.
