West Gambier v South Gambier

WEST Gambier hosts South Gambier for Round 10 of Western Border netball and are bound for another strong showing.

The Roos carry red-hot form into the clash and have not dropped a game since Round 3 against Millicent.

They have been without the services of young-gun shooter Sarah Ritter in recent rounds due to a knee injury and it is unsure whether she will front up tomorrow.

If she does the Demons’ defence will need to be at their best.

Claire Hunter filled Ritter’s position last round and was explosive in her own right, complimented well by the experienced Lisa McGregor.

South’s Alyssa Duncan, Lara Munro and Ellie Bouchier were all a part of Western Border’s title-winning 17 and Under side at the Netball SA Country Championships last weekend.

They will carry strong form into the clash, but also come off packed weekend of netball, where they played the equivalent of seven full-length games.

South will hope they do not pull up too sore, as the young trio has been influential in the A Grade line-up.

Munro has been a focal point in the attacking circle, while Megan Reid’s work through the mid-court is also pivotal.

When Imogen Walker has been available she adds excitement to any position on court and if the Demons are to hold their own against West, they will need a strong four-quarter performance.

The Roos are sturdy in defence with Amy Cram and Jade Ritter combining well and will lock horns with Duncan and Munro.

West also relies on its young talent, with Tara Bryant and Mikaela Horrigan tearing through the mid-court.

Last time the sides met it was a 35-goal win to the Roos.

Since then South has shown plenty of improvement and the margin should not be as large, but West is likely to continue its winning streak.
