DRIVERS raced to SEAC Park on the weekend for the 2022 South Australian State Autocross Championship.

There were 40 racers who took on the challenge after the inclement weather swept across the Park in the leadup to the event.

Class S buggy driver, Matt Muir drew the number one spot and set the bar to a high standard for the rest of the field.

The Muir buggy had a high-power motorbike engine and he made the most of his vehicle’s light weight to set quick times in the first two tests.

Simon Feil was fastest in the third test, ahead of Darren Windus by 0.04 of a second.

After a short break, drivers returned to the track for night runs before action got underway on Sunday.

Brad Clements claimed the top spot, ahead of Simon Feil and Dale Cagney.

On the second track, Dale Cagney claimed the win, ahead of Muir and Windus.

Windus put in a strong performance to finish with a time of 105.62 seconds.

Feil was close behind and crossed the line with a time of 106.35 seconds.

Muir was the third-fastest, ahead of Dale Cagney and Clements.

After a lunch break, competition resumed for a double-lap format for the final two runs of the day.

Muir set the quickest times in both of the final runs to end his weekend on a high.

Dale Cagney was runner-up in the first run, ahead of Clements, while Windus and Feil took out second and third place in the second double-lap run.

After two days of competition, Muir was the fastest driver with a time of 17 minutes and 23.49 seconds.

Dale Cagney’s consistency throughout the weekend was rewarded when he claimed second place with a time of 17 minutes and 47.94 seconds.

Brad Clements was close behind Cagney in third place, with a time of 17 minutes and 50.47 seconds.

Michael Clements claimed fourth place in the Subaru WRX he shared with Brad Clements, with a time of 17 minutes and 57.52 seconds.

Feil was inconsistent throughout the weekend but still was fast enough to claim fifth place overall.

His crossed the line with a final overall time of 18 minutes and 18.03 seconds.

Windus was left wondering what could have been, after a couple of errors cost him with time penalties.

He claimed seventh place overall in his Subaru, with a time of 18 minutes and 32.63 seconds.

Nicholas Cagney’s AE86 was the fastest of the two-wheel-drives.

His consistency was rewarded and was the eighth fastest driver throughout the weekend with a time of 18 minutes and 37.45 seconds.

Glenn Campbell impressed throughout the weekend in his Renault Clio, with a total time of 18 minutes and 55.68 seconds, for ninth overall.

Damien Wilson rounded out the top 10, with a final time of 19 minutes and 7.76 seconds.

Teresa Lipscombe claimed the Ladies’ award in the family XR6 Falcon.

Ollie Pohlner put in an impressive performance in the challenging conditions and kept the Subaru Liberty on the track all weekend.
