KALANGADOO and Robe played out a classic game in Round 7 of Mid South East netball on Saturday.

The top-of-the-table clash kept spectators entertained, with both sides firing from the first whistle.

Kalangadoo’s shooters Kori Collins and Abbey Duncan combined well in the goal circle, with Collins shooting with 100 per cent accuracy for the quarter.

While Robe’s goalies were not as accurate, they rebounded well and the Magpies led by just two goals at the first break.

No changes were made at quarter time, with both teams upping the intensity further.

Robe’s Alannah Jennings and Kalangadoo’s Kirsty Egan battled hard on the wing, the Roosters applying plenty of pressure on every ball.

Kalangadoo was up to the challenge but claimed the quarter by just one goal for a three-goal advantage at the main break.

Robe’s Emma Grant stepped up to the challenge against Duncan but quick movement and passing from the Magpie shooter caused headaches for the Roosters.

However, with some inaccurate shooting from Duncan, Grant and Ellen Ramke claimed plenty of rebounds to keep the contest alive, as Kalangadoo went to the final break with a handy six-goal advantage.

The final quarter saw Robe change Annie Hunter to wing attack and Lucy Perkins to centre in the hope to give some more defensive pressure down the court.

After the first few minutes Collins was off injured, with Maddy Bonanno into the goal shooter position for Kalangadoo.

Robe worked hard to chase down the margin in the final quarter, scoring from eight of their nine attempts but it was not enough to keep Kalangadoo at bay, as the Magpies claimed the win by seven goals.

Best players for the victors were Reanna Weatherall and Egan, while Hunter and Grant were best for Robe.
