THE April monthly medal for division’s 1 and 2 were played in ideal conditions at the Blue Lake Golf Club last week.

Lyn Gill was euphoric after she won the medal for the first time in her golfing career and is now eligible to compete in the medal of medals in October.

With the course set to its maximum length for the stroke competition, Gill was was the only one to play under the par of 72.

Most found the going a challenge but took advantage of the run on the firm fairways.

Coinciding with the monthly medal stroke competition was the third round of the Collins Court Butcher captain’s trophy and the winner in Division 1, Jenny Medhurst.

Medhurst, who can only play on Wednesday when her work roster allows, would be pleased signing for 93/20/73, with inward and outward nines of 46/47 that included pars on the 11th and 14th holes.

Runner-up was Ronda Edwards (91/15/76) who had to wait on a count-back from Sue Agars (97/31/76).

Edwards had a wayward front nine of 49, with a par on the second hole but conquered the back nine with 42 strokes, with pars on the 12th, 14th, 15th and 17th.

Agars also struggled on the front nine with 50 strokes but thanks to a par on the 16th hole from a chip-in off the green, plus a par on the 17th, she finished the back nine with 47.

Gill added to her prizes with a win in Division 2 after she signed for signing for 116/45/71, one under her handicap, with consistent splits of 58/58.

runner-up was newly-crowned handicap champion Kate Hommelhoff (106/34/72) equal to her handicap from splits of 56/50, with a par on the fifth hole and a birdie-two on the par 3 uphill second.

Hommelhoff also had to face a count-back from third-placed Jaynee Oberer.

Oberer finished with 102/30/72 from splits of 51/51.

Nearest to pin winner’s were Dianne Perryman and Lee Anderson.

The least putt went to Lynda Nannings with 28 and Carol Melhuish with 31.

Chocolate bars were won by Rosemary Martland and Sue Agars for chip-in ferrets and Hommelhoff for a birdie.

On Saturday 12 women competed in a stroke competition in windy conditions and again with tricky pin placements and a long course set-up.

Geraldine Scott showed the way, playing one under her 22 handicap to finish with 93/71.

Consistent splits of 47/46 included pars on the fifth, 12th and 16th holes.

Scott also won three balls for the best nett score.

Rosemary Martland claimed second place with 85/72, playing to her handicap of 13 with pars on the fourth and 12th holes.

A birdie-two was a highlight on the downhill par 3 fifth hole, winning her the nearest to pin prize.

Third place went to Karen Panagopolous who signed for 98/24/74, which included pars on 12th, 15th and 16th holes.

The novelty prizes for longest drive went to Perryman and least putts to Martland.
