CONSECUTIVE victories are a new concept for South Gambier and it now faces the second-ranked Roos, which will provide the ultimate test.

West Gambier had an up-and-down contest with East before it secured a comfortable victory but consistency has been an issue in the early going for the Roos.

They have had strong starts in the opening four rounds so South will need to be ready to fire from the first whistle.

It looms as the first week the Demons’ new defensive line of Grace Edwards and Ellie Bouchier will team up.

They will need to be on song as the West shooting combination of Lisa McGregor and Sarah Ritter are formidable.

At the other end, Jade Ritter and Amy Cram will be tested by South’s Lara Munro and Alyssa Duncan.

Munro’s 21 straight goals in the third quarter against the Cats last round showed the damage she can do.

The mid-court is the battle of some of the association’s best young talent with West’s Mikaela Horrigan, Tara Bryant and Zoe Malseed taking on South’s Tully McShane, Ruby Richter and Megan Reid.

West has rightly been crowned as the early season premiership contender and should rack up its fourth win for 2022.

The Demons will need to rise to this challenge and be competitive even if the upset eludes them.
