Exciting spectacle on Millicent greens

A HARD-FOUGHT grand final victory gave Wayne and Sarah Ross the honours in the Millicent Bowls Club’s mixed pairs competition this week.

Leading up to the grand final, the 12 teams entered competed over 12 ends of two and walk.

The format saw the lead play two bowls, then change ends and the skipper play two.

Another change over followed, with a repeat of play, with four bowls for each player.

After the completion of three games there were four teams remaining to play preliminary final.

Iain and Mary Campbell faced Glen Tilley and Fay Hill, with Glen and Fay working their way into the grand final.

Wayne and Sarah Ross were up against John and Lyn Scudds, with the Ross team claiming the win and the last grand final berth.

The grand final was played over 15 ends, also of two and walk,with an exciting contest unfolding.

At the sixth end the score was six-all and by end 12, with only three ends to play, the score was again tied, this time at 11 shots each.

The Ross combination then were able to get a four on the 13th end and by the 15th, finished the game with 16 points to 13 for the overall honours.
