Aussie theme for invitational tournament

THE Port MacDonnell Bowls Club held its Ladies Invitation Fours Medley last week, sponsored by Empak Homes, Noel Barr Toyota, Vivid Gass, Stuckey Electrical and The Athletes Foot.

Teams came from Mount Gambier, Mount Gambier RSL, Millicent, Penola, Casterton, Beachport, Portland RSL, plus Port MacDonnell/Mount Gambier

All players dressed in an Australiana theme, with four games played in different formats.

Winners of the Australiana theme dress were Julie Beaman, Joy Bilney, Merna Whitehead and Shirley McIntyre from the Mount Gambier RSL Bowling Club.

The first game was of long end, short end and the winner was a Millicent team of Elaine Goode, Ella Pietersma, Mary Clifford and skip Del Parsons.

The second game was for double points, which went to the Port MacDonnell team of Lyn Vanderley, Lorraine Mackereth, Marilyn Sutton and skip Robyn Burley.

The third game was of 10-up (4, 3, 2, 1), won by Millicent’s Judy Lowe, Carlene Godden, Adriana Ross and skip Sarah Ross.

The fourth game was a power play, with Port MacDonnell’s Sharon Perryman, Nell Lucas, Carol Schmidt and skip Jennie Tilley claiming the honours.

Overall winners for the day was combination team from Port MacDonnell and Mount Gambier consisting of Barbara Milstead, Maryke Heaver, Judith Grosvenor and skip Heather Richards.
