SOUTH Indians bounced back from an early deficit to take a strong Mount Gambier and District baseball Division 1 victory over Tigers on Saturday at Blue Lake Sports Park.

A warm afternoon greeted the players but South was on the back foot from the outset, with six of their starters out.

That allowed the likes of Harrison Elletson and Koby Stratman to make debuts, the a for the Indians faithful.

Tigers were out of the blocks fast with the bases full in the first inning.

A long triple to Karl Ransom emptied the bases for a dream five-run start.

The Indians were kept scoreless in the first couple of innings and the young Tigers looked dangerous.

However, South stars Bruce Morale and Dean Hamilton led from the front and turned the game on its head.

The fired-up Indians scored the next eight runs in a hitting frienzy to take an 8-5 lead.

Tigers were battling and it was the fresh face of Joel Ransom, who returned for his first game in six years and looked to make an impression.

He took the gamble with some exceptional base stealing and helped his side across the plate for another run.

However, it was all the Indians from there, with the final 15-7 scoreline adding to Tigers, with its third straight defeat.

Over at Millicent, the Bandits struggled to keep pace Centrals, as the visitors handed Millicent/Federals a 16-1 defeat to continue their dominant season.
