Demons set the benchmark

KALANGADOO’S Senior women felt the wrath of their Casterton Sandford counterparts in Round 4 of the Limestone Coast Women’s Football League at Blue Lake Sports Park on Sunday.

The Magpies were kept scoreless, while the Cats built on their early one-point lead to bang on 12 major scores.

The 14-0 half-time scoreline left room for the Magpies to find some form after the long break but it was the Cats who lifted the intensity.

Three third-quarter goals and a further seven in the final stanza iced the game for the Cats’ second win of the season.

Kalangadoo is still chasing that elusive victory.

Chloe foster and Scarlett Jarrad kicked two goals each.

Best for the victors were Madison Mutch, Jarrad, Gabrielle Sullivan, Emma Lynch, Foster and Sarah Thompson.

Best for Kalangadoo were Taysha James, Kellie Wallace, Jenna Male, Emily Cooney and Stephanie Bingham.

South Gambier 17.20 (122) d North Gambier 0.0 (0)

SOUTH Gambier made short work of its contest against North Gambier in the late game at Blue Lake Sports Park.

The Tigers were never in the game, with the Demons dominant from the outset.

North worked hard throughout the contest and managed to keep the Demons goal-lessin the final term.

But the 88-0 half-time score suggested there was no coming back, with the class of South simply too much.

Goals were shared around, with Alice Tentye topping the list with four, Lauren Frost with three and Shae Delaney with two.

Best for South were Shelby Auld, Chelsea Frost, Lauren Frost, Tentye, Madelyn Sutherland and Tess Andrews.

North’s best were Dianne Wilson, Piper Killick, Fiona Young, Kirra Schultz and Makala Cookson.

Kongorong 8.9 (57) d Millicent 1.5 (11)

UP at Mundulla Kongorong claimed a win over Millicent after a strong showing for the full four quarters.

A 19-1 first term favouring the Hawks set the scene, with a relatively even second quarter to follow.

By the long break Kongorong held a 16-point advantage and built on it from there.

The third quarter saw the Hawks add 20 points, while holding Millicent scoreless, then added a pair of majors in the final term to ice the game.

Evie Sealey topped the scoresheets with four majors, while Jasmin McKinnon kicked two.

Lauren Potter was the sole goal kicker for Millicent.

Best for the victors were Jade Longbottom, Hannah Kuhl-Miller, Stevie Collins, Kate Kourmouzis, Janita Galloway and Annalise Tiller.

Best for Millicent were Megan Tilby, Amellia Gronn, Lilly Hateley, Crystal Golding, Sieanna Laslett and Chloe Gronn.

Kybybolite 3.11 (29) d Mundulla 4.0 (24)

IN the final game at Mundulla, Kybybolite snuck home in a tight contest against the hosts.

Fortunes changed on the wind, despite scores tied up at the first break.

Kyby opened the margin in the second term but by just four points.

A resurgent Mundulla hit their straps in the third quarter, banging on three majors while holding Kyby to just one behind and claim the lead by 13 points.

However, the final stanza saw another change of fortune, with Kyby running over the top of Mundulla, keeping the hosts scoreless while adding a further 2.6 for a five-point victory.

Sophie Hentschke kicked the entirety of the Kyby goals with three to her name, while for Mundulla, Dana Koch also kicked three.

Best for the victors were Georgia Gill, Ella Jones, Dellie Brown, Sophie Ford, Victoria Boddington and Susannah Maber.

Best for Mundulla were Natalie Twigden, Zoe Hawker, Casey McElroy, Meg Norris, Anna Will and Kaylene Nuske.
